Pre-Licensing Course

You should have received a link via email for either Xcel Testing or JustInsurance. If you didn’t receive a link, contact the person who hired you for help before proceeding.

Exam
  • Idaho insurance exam information can be found here and in the candidate handbook.
  • You’ll need to create an account in order to schedule.
  • Organization is the Idaho Department of Insurance.
  • You’ll need to take both the ID Life Producer and ID Disability/Health Producer exams.
  • Read all the information on their site to ensure you are adequately prepared on your test date.
  • Scheduling both on the same day should result in one exam fee being waived.
    Fingerprinting
    • Follow these instructions for fingerprinting.
    • The CHRI/Request and Release form and the fingerprinting receipt must by returned to ID DOI by the applicant.

    • Complete your license application immediately after submitting your fingerprints.
    License Application
    • Go to NIPR to begin the application.
    • Click Resident License then Go to the Online Application.
    • Click Individual and choose SSN as your search type. Enter your last name (legal last name, as it will appear on your license) and your SSN. Accept the NIPR Use Agreement and click the Next button.
    • Enter your birthdate and click the Next button.
    • Click Start.
    • Select Producer Licensing > Initial > Resident then click the Next button.
    • Select your resident state and click the Next button.
    • This next section is a little different for each state. If you’re unsure what option to choose, reach out to your upline for help. 
    • Make sure you’re applying for BOTH life and health – this may be all on one line item for your state or you may need to click two separate boxes (one for life and one for health)
    • Depending on your state, what we’re calling “Health” may also be referred to as “Accident” and/or “Sickness” – it all means the same thing though.
    • Follow the prompts to complete your application.
    • SKIP any fields that are not required.
    • When prompted to enter business contact info – this still means your contact info. Do not include any contact information for a business you do not own. If you do not have separate business contact info, use your regular info.
    • Business Entity and Affiliations information – unless you are currently the principal agent of a business entity and are planning to apply for that entity to hold an insurance license, do not include any business entity info on this application. Those fields/sections are not required so you can skip them. Do NOT list Symmetry or any agency/business you do not own as an affiliated agency.
    • Continue to follow the prompts through the end of the application and pay your application fee.
